🚨Okay, listen up! 🚨This is important!

Because you probably need to take action like, TODAY.

This year I have earned over 50k points on Rakuten. Just by clicking through a shopping portal, I have earned these points. That doesn't even count the amount of points I've used by actually using my credit card. If you aren't using Rakuten, I implore you!! Do it. (That means I've earned enough points for 2 nights in Hawaii, or round trip flights to Hawaii or even Europe...just by using a shopping portal)

I'm going to attempt to explain something that might be a bit difficult to understand, but I promise it's simple. Due to compliance reasons, I can't name the cards from a certain bank (and it's probably not the bank you think). If you have cash back in Rakuten, for the last few months I've told you to make sure you are receiving your rewards as BILT Rewards.

But on August 15, 2026, the Rakuten -> Bilt payout ratio changes from 1:1 to 1:0.5. That means if you have 50,000 points in Rakuten, only 25,000 points will transfer to your Bilt account. (You can keep it at a 1:1 transfer if you have Bilt status. You can read more about that here.)

But if you don't have BILT status, my recommendation is to switch it to a different points earning currency if you're able. (I know, it's cryptic. Hang with me.)

Having certain cards can enable you to earn another, equally valuable points currency with Rakuten.

Here are some examples of cards you may have that would allow you to earn these points on Rakuten:

1. You can see if you're approved for a card before they run your credit.
2. You'll automatically get your card number - meaning you can link it to your Rakuten account immediately!

You can still earn your BILT Rewards with Rakuten - it will just be at the lower transfer ratio. And dare I say, BILT still has some of the best transfer partners in the game. I'd be excited for free BILT points any day! I'm actually using the rest of mine to book an Alaska flight tonight. I JUST FOUND IT and need to stop procrastinating!!
